She's aliiiive!

Hello, everyone! Long time no see. I haven't been doing any art lately, and I've recently lost my job, but I'm hopeful and want to turn my unemployment into a change of pace and a way to force myself to think about my life and what I want to do with it. I'm still unsure, which is pretty bad for a 25 year old, but things will work out for the best, I'm sure. Since I've got loads of free time now, I'll be jumping back into art as best I can as well as some other things such as focusing on taking better care of myself emotionally, physically, and psychologically.

So in short, I love you all, and I'll see you soon. <3

This STARTED as a modification of the dead girl portrait, but I got a little silly and carried away... Think that means I need some sleep.

Now for something a little different!

Once upon a time I posted on a forum offering to draw some tattoos for people for free, since I was bored. Well after I initially drew this one, the guy told me it was going on his torso, on or near his ribs, and I said to myself (and to him), “Oh wow, if I knew it was gonna be that big I’d have added more detail!”

 Going through my hard drive today, I found my old psd, so I asked him if he had gotten the tattoo yet or still wanted it. Turns out he hadn’t, but was 100% sure he still wanted it!

So… Here’s my first draft of the new version!

A continuation of my BJD project from last year!

A quick, shameless webcam snapshot of today's progress.

I think I'm totally gutting my sculpt that I made last year with the full intention of casting. Instead I pulled the head out of the bag and realized... What the heck had I been doing? I didn't like the way she looked at all, so I got rid of the eyes and started on new ones, in addition to making the lips a tiny bit narrower. I'm still not satisfied, but once I decide on a look I can transfer the features that got cut into the next head sculpt! (Ideally!)

Next on the agenda will be to create a new body for this series, because I have a feeling when I look back at the 70cm body I created it will feel much, MUCH too tall for this head now. And it seemed to proportionate at the time, too!

Well that's why it's important to go back and check your work. C'est la vie.

First up: Vampyroteuthis infernalis!

I'm currently compiling a list of the sea creatures I am determined to have at least ink drawings of by the time I go back to school in July.

The rest that I feel compelled to draw, in no particular order:

It was pretty annoying getting this really basic layout to the point where my eyes didn't burn when I viewed it from my phone, so feel free to let me know if I need to change it for the sake of anyone else's eyes! I tried to keep the yellow to a minimum -- it's just such a happy color.

Today instead of sleeping as I should be I was reading threads on various forums, and I came across one about sea creatures, and how strange they can be. I'm grateful for that thread, because it reminded me how much I've been completely dying to do a series of pieces on sea creatures!

I've got until the 26th of the month before work resumes on Broken, the Game by which time I need to have a new tablet stylus... SO! Until then I think I would like to take this opportunity to dive back into watercolors and ink, which I haven't touched in way, way, way too long.

I've committed it electronically now! So now there's a record of this for me to feel slightly accountable to. :)
